Emergency Spending Bill, Part IV

Another year, another emergency spending bill to fund the war in Iraq, this one packed with tasty morsels of pork. As usual, it’s going to be rammed through with no real debate, its opponents sputtering ineffectually, then voting for it en masse.

But it’s hard to fault the principled senators who, given the choice between bad — sinking more money into this $300 billion debacle — and worse — depriving the troops of whatever they need to survive it — are choosing bad.

Of all this administration’s myriad sins, I think the worst by far is their use of this country’s soldiers as a bludgeon to stymie debate and prolong their ridiculous, tragic war. They’re trading, in the most literal sense possible, human lives for failed policy. It’s sickening.

I totally agree, Ramseys. Hope you’re working or contributing some way in order to recover one of the chambers of Congress this year…. We have to take these guys down before we can change policy in Iraq, etc…
